As in many states, Michigan works very hard to provide coverage and make health care affordable for all. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, Michigan has:

  • 138,963 uninsured children, 18 years and younger, and 891,422 uninsured adults between the ages of 19 to 64 – totaling 1,030,385 people uninsured – 10% of the entire population
  • 53% of private sector establishments offer health insurance
  • 59%, that is 5,905,815 citizens, of Michigan have employer based health care
  • The average annual Family Premium per Employee is $2,405, lower than the national average of $2,845

According the U.S. Census Bureau, 33.9% of Michiganders are under 19 years of age. As the economy of Michigan shifts and changes, so do the needs of every American. The Campaign headed to Detroit to listen to families, and how they would like to see a solution to American health care.
