POLL VAULT: New Surveys Show Americans Concerned Reform Proposals Will Increase Costs

Several public polls released in the past week that show the American people are increasingly concerned that current reform proposals will have the unintended consequence of driving up health care costs.
Wall Street Journal/NBC News
- The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll (10/22-10/25) shows Americans by an almost 4 to 1 margin think costs will go up (47%) versus thinking costs will go down (13%).
Rasmussen Report
- The latest Rasmussen Poll (10/24-10/25) shows 57% of Americans think the cost of health care will go up if health care reform passes.
- The same questions asked in August showed 51% of Americans thoughts the cost of health care would go up if health care reform passes.
Economist/You Gov Poll
- The September Economist/You Gov Poll showed that 48% of Americans thought they would pay more either in taxes or insurance costs under the current reform proposals.
- The latest poll (10/18-10/20) shows 54% of Americans now think they would pay more either in taxes or insurance costs.
